Cisco hired Spur-Reply to perform a UX audit of an existing internal tool. They were finding that user adoption rates were non-existent and wanted to identify pain points within the tool, interview end users, and receive a menu of improvement recommendations.
Our initial approach was to map the existing tools user experience and from our side gain deep understanding of the tools end goals.
Once this initial discovery period was complete we moved into an interview stage where we compared the ideal UX flow against the experiences of end users using the tool to perform tasks.
Having created documentation for both the initial intended experience and the actual lived experience we were able to start analyzing the tools flow and identifying key points of UX breakdown.
Using the identified breakdown points we were able to interview key stakeholders (from both the product development and the end user perspectives) and verify where our analysis was accurate.
Utilizing our findings we were able to create a series of proposals on how to approach fixing paint points found within the tool’s UX. These options ranged from minimal investment training & communication plans to a full redesign and rebuild of the tool. The client was able to use this analysis to secure funding and implement a plan for tool improvement.
